Bethel Pentecostal Church is the product of the calling of God in the lives of Mark and Cheryl Brewer. It was 1979 when Pastor Brewer first felt called to the ministry and reaching souls became his passion.
In 1982, Pastor and Sister Brewer came to Evansville under Divine direction, and founded Bethel Pentecostal Church. From humble beginnings in a rented building with weeds initially higher than portions of the roof, to a storefront on Franklin Street, to a tiny dilapidated building with exposed rafters, Bethel experienced revival under the leadership of the Brewers. In 1988 the Lord blessed Bethel with their current church located on Mesker Park Drive.
Pastor Brewer’s passions during his 33 years of ministry, were his weekly Bible studies at the Safe House, going on Saturday outreach to the less fortunate, driving his own Sunday School bus route, teaching Home Bible Studies, witnessing to people about the hope in Jesus, praying and reading God’s Word daily, hosting and supporting missionaries and evangelists, and leading and serving his congregation unselfishly.
Pastor and Sister Brewer have been shepherds for our souls, strength and stability in chaotic times, and a compass for us all to follow. Their lives and ministry greatly impacted every person they met, both at home and abroad. Pastor Brewer’s greatest desire was that people would see their need for the Lord and serve Him faithfully.
